The Etiquette of the Reciter of the Holy Quran

While there is a great reward for those who recite the Holy Quran regularly, a set of rules and regulations along with necessary etiquettes should be followed as you make the recital a daily habit. The fulfillment of the etiquettes should be considered mandatory to perform as the recitation of the Holy Quran is an address to Allah SWT, who has all the power and is the highest. He deserves all the praise and respect and should be addressed with a certain decorum. The most important is the factor of sincerity and interest as you recite the Holy Quran. You should read each and every word with complete devotion and intention to understand.

Purity

It is not encouraged to recite the Holy Quran in a state of impurity. Before you begin reciting, clean your mouth with a miswak, and make wudu. In case you are at a place where there is no resource of water, tayammum (dry ablution) is recommended. With the assurance of basic hygiene, it is also necessary to wear clean clothes which are pure. The best Quran tutors also recommend that the recitation of the Quran should be held at a place that possesses nobility and cleanliness. The best place which is recommended for the recitation of the Holy Quran is the mosque as it has all the hygiene practices enforced and has a calm and peaceful environment where you can read the Holy Quran with complete focus and devotion.

If you are a beginner and aim to learn Quran online, first, you should know how Arabic is being pronounced and read in order to avoid any mistakes and recite the Holy Quran with its clear meaning and intentions. 

Genuine Intentions

As you memorize the Quran online, your thoughts and intentions should be clear without any desire for worldly gain and fame. The purpose of the recitation should not be of gaining superiority over others, wealth, and leadership. This has been communicated in the Holy Quran as well as Allah SWT has stated that: “Whoever desires the harvest of the Hereafter – We

increase for him in his harvest [i.e., reward]. And whoever desires the harvest [i.e., benefits] of this world – We give him thereof, but there is not for him in the Hereafter any share.”

If you are a Quran tutor online or teach kids in a mosque, make sure that you are a reciter who is a diligent follower of the mandatory etiquettes required. Along with that, you should be kind and humble to those who want to learn it from you. Do not show off your capability to the rest and do not use it for your own good. Instead, everything you adopt as a practice should be in accordance with the teachings of Islam and for the good of Allah SWT’s creation.
