Women's Status According to Quran Teachings

The status of Woman in Islam

In our new modern world, people believe that women are disrespected, shackled, suppressed, and veiled in Islam, but these are all misconceptions. Actually, all these are the misconception about the actual teachings of Islam. Western world derives this opinion by following the Muslims, who live in a tribal system, have their cultural obligations, or misinterpret the sayings of Islam described in the Holy Quran and Sunnah.

Woman role in Muslim Societies

Although, the western world claims that women have more liberties and rights, which are available only to men in Muslim societies. But, the fact is that only Islam has empowered women through Islamic sharia, Islamic laws and rules described in the Holy Quran, and Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PUBH). We have numerous verses in the Quran, which describe the importance of women and their rights in Islam. Allah says,

Woman Right of Quran and sunnah

“O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women.” [Quran 4:1]

liberalization and Muslim woman Freedom

Generally, the intellectuals and the supporters of liberalization target the cultural aspects of society and consider these activities a part of Islam, that is not true. Realistically, Islam has allowed all types of activities, whether related to social life or freedom of expression to both, men and women. In the Quran, Allah says,

Women in the Quran and the Sunnah

“Indeed, the Muslim men and Muslim women, the believing men and believing women, the obedient men and obedient women, the truthful men and truthful women, the patient men and patient women, the humble men and humble women, the charitable men and charitable women, the fasting men and fasting women, the men who guard their private parts and the women who do so, and the men who remember Allah often and the women who do so – for them Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward.” [Quran 33:35]

Cultural Right of Woman and Islam

Cultural rituals are actually the main hurdles in the freedom of women, but the western world relates it to Islam. Islam does not apply restrictions on women regarding vote casting and driving, etc., but people join it to Islam. The fact is that men and women are equal in Islam and in front of Allah. In Islam, men and women are considered as they are born. Men are born strong while women are delicate and Islam implements its duties according to this natural difference. The difference in Islam is only based on Taqwa and all other differences do not matter whether they are related to gender, caste, tribe, language, culture, region, or living standards.
