There is no doubt that the Holy Quran is the most sacred book in this world. This book is basically the word of Allah Almighty (Kalam Ullah) and the last and final heavenly manuscript.
Table of Contents
It was revealed upon The Holy Prophet (PBUH) in around 23 years. The major difference between the Holy Quran with the other heavenly manuscript is that the verses in it are all the words of Allah Almighty and no other book can come with this standard till the Day of Judgment. That’s why it is been taught everywhere and even online Quran reading and learning is being opted by many.
Allah Himself says in the Quran, “Indeed, it is We, Who sent down the Qur’an and indeed, We will be its guardian.” [Quran, 15:9]
The above described, the verse says that it is Allah, who is the author of this book and He will also protect it till the Day of Judgment and even after that. Due to the importance, Allah Almighty and His Beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) want from us that we must follow some etiquette even when we read Quran online. Here are some of the basic ones:
Wudhu and Cleanliness of Clothes is a must
Before picking the Holy Book or even before online Quran reading, we must achieve the condition of purity and we will achieve it after Wudhu and wearing clean clothes. The Quran tells us that only purified people can touch this book. There is some relaxation if you are not picking up Quran in your hand as you are reading from memory or with the help of your smartphone, but even it is better to do wudhu before reading and touching it.
It is not allowed for one who is in the state of janaabah (impurity following sexual activity) to read Qur’an either from the Mus-haf or otherwise until he has done ghusl, because it was narrated that nothing prevented the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) from reading Qur’an except janaabah. But if a person has broken his wudu (minor impurity), then it is permissible for him to recite Qur’an from memory because of the general meaning of the evidence.”
Cover your hair and head while reading Quran
It is not obligatory for a man or woman to cover his or her head while reading the Holy Quran. But it is recommended (Mustahab) for men to cover their head with a cap and for women to cover their head with a scarf or stole, out of respect. This is because the recitation of the Holy Qur’an is a symbol of Islam about which Allah says in the Quran:
Whosoever venerates the symbols of Allah, then it is truly from the piety of the hearts. (Quran 22:32)

Use a respectable place for reciting the Holy Quran
As the Quran is not an ordinary book, therefore, we need to sit at a respectable place and with respect as well. Grip the Quran in a respectable way and if you will use a Quran stand (Rehl), pillow, or any other purified table, it will be excellent.
