The importance of Quran Teaching

Quran is the Holy book of Allah revealed on His last messenger, Muhammad (SAW) between 609 CE and 632 CE. This is the last book of Allah that has come to the people. It contains rules and regulations on how to lead life being a true Muslim. The Quran is a very important book to learn for Muslims, and therefore, you must start teaching it to your children when they are very young. A young mind is better at learning new things, especially new languages (Arabic for Quran). This blog contains Quranic things that your Child must start learning today.

Quranic things the kids must start learning it

  • Quran Recitation:

Recitation of the Quran is the first step towards understanding and learning it. You must start teaching your child the recitation of the Quran from the age of around 5 years. The Arabic alphabet must be taught at the age of 4. Arabic alphabets are usually taught from a Noorani Qaida that teaches the most basic things about the Arabic language. It is important to learn how to read Arabic in order to recite the Quran fluently. Arabic is one of the most difficult languages to learn and read. A simple recitation of the Quran is also an act of worship for a Muslim. So it is one of the most important things to learn for your child.

  • Tajweed:

Tajweed is a way of reciting the Quran with certain sounds that different indicators are supposed to make in the Arabic language. In older days, children were taught Tajweed after they had completely learned how to recite the Quran. However, in today’s era, it is believed that Tajweed must be taught along with the recitation of the Quran, and very rightly so. Tajweed is the proper way of how the Quran must be recited and arguably, the only way, therefore, it must be taught from the start.

  • Memorization:

There is a completely different and very high status for Muslims who have memorized the Quran by heart. Adding to the status, there are certain things that can only be performed if you are a Hafiz-e-Quran (One who has memorized the entire Quran), for example leading Taraweeh (a congregational prayer offered in Ramadan after Isha). The best part about it is that now you can memorize the Quran online. Memorization of the Quran is a great act of worship in the eye of Allah too and the one who memorizes the Quran will surely be rewarded on the Day of Judgement.

  • Tafseer:

Tafseer is the commentary of the Quran. It must be learned to understand what is actually meant by what you recite in the Quran. It is a bit more difficult to understand Tafseer, therefore, a child must at least be 13 to 14 years old to start learning Tafseer. Adding to this, there are also certain subjects in the Tafseer that must not be exposed to very young minds.

  • General Islamic teachings:

There is some very basic Islamic knowledge that your child must know from a very young age. First of all, these basic things include the five pillars of Islam (Shahadah, Salat, Zakat, Sawm, and Hajj). The five pillars are those pillars on which the Islamic religion is resting. Furthermore, it includes the general history of Islam, about the life that a Muslim must live which includes values and integrities, about the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), six articles of Faith (their memorization and their meanings), and so on. These teachings are the first step towards the learning of and about the Quran. Because these teachings make up the Islamic religion.
