You do not need to read fluently to begin. Your tutor will assess your current level and build from there. Complete beginners who do not yet recognise Arabic letters may be advised to begin with our Noorani Qaida course.

The curriculum is built around one goal: reading the Quran correctly and fluently. The emphasis is on applying essential Tajweed during Quran reading rather than studying advanced Tajweed terminology and theory. Through guided practice with Quranic words and verses, students progressively learn:

Foundation and Articulation

• Makharij (articulation points) and Sifaat (letter characteristics).
• Letter joining and fluid word formation.
• Essential reading signs: Harakat, Sukoon, Tanween and Shaddah.

Core Tajweed Rules in Practice

• Rules of Noon Sakinah and Tanween (Izhar, Idgham, Iqlab and Ikhfa).
• Rules of Meem Sakinah and Qalqalah (echoing sounds).
• Measured vowel elongations (Madd rules).

Fluency and Independent Recitation

• Proper stopping and starting rules (Waqf and Ibtida).
• Rhythmic recitation with calm pacing (Tarteel).
• Habit correction and unassisted Mushaf reading.

These are taught as everyday reading skills, not as a separate theoretical syllabus. Students who later wish to study the rules of Tajweed in depth can move on to our Advanced Tajweed course.
